A Blessed Life...
So...we started a series last Sunday on the beattitudes...Matthew 5:1-12 called The Blessed Life. It is a series I wrote in 2005 and have 'tweaked' recently given what I have learned and experienced in the 5 or so years since first writing it. The Sermon on the Mount in general and the beatitudes specifically have played a huge part in my own spiritual formation as well as countless others that I have known. Life in the Kingdom of God begins with what John Stott calls the formation of Kingdom Character as articulated in the beatitudes. In other words, if we are to live the life Jesus is caling us to live in the Kingdom of God, we must first have our character formed with the traits that will lay the foundation on which that life can be built. Over the next 9 or so weeks, we at Legacy will be taking a look at each of the beatitudes as laid out in Matthew 5 and discussing how to begin living them out. My intention is to blog on each of the messages I'll be delivering and give you my thoughts and insights. You can listen through Legacy's website or by subscribe to our podcast which can also be accessed through the website.
